In 1988 Ian started I.N. Newman Ltd., which still remains an independent company, owned by Ian and his wife Janet, both of whom work in the business. They have now been joined by the next generation their son Mark, who started in the business in August 2001 and is now learning the workings of an Undertakers from the bottom up. They are surrounded by a team of caring staff, who work together as a family. Everyone is trained to give a very high standard of care and personal attention to every aspect of the business. Ian offers a 24-hour, day and night service throughout the year. There are two locations, with Chapels of Rest in Salisbury and Fordingbridge. In Salisbury the office is located in Winchester Street and the Chapels of Rest are at the Ashfield Road site. In Fordingbridge both office and Chapels of Rest are at the one site, just off the High Street. As part of our continued service, in helping families at a time of bereavement, we have compiled an information booklet (available in a downloadable pdf format on this website) in the hope, that it will be of use to you and ease your burden. There are many decisions that you will have to make, should you be responsible for making the funeral arrangements, this may seem a daunting task to you. This may be especially so if you have never been placed in this position before, or if it is sometime since you were responsible for making funeral arrangements. We also think that you should not feel pressurised at a time of bereavement into making any decisions in a hurry. Once the funeral has taken place we want you to feel that you have succeeded in complying with everyone?s wishes and that you feel satisfied with the arrangements which you have made, under difficult circumstances. No two funerals are exactly the same, and although there are of course many similarities, we arrange every funeral to meet each individual need. We can provide you with a cost quotation for the funeral, once we have made all of the arrangements and know exactly what your requirements are.
