Farthing Singleton & Hastings is an independent, family owned and family run business which was founded over 160 years ago, in 1840. We are specialist funeral directors providing an up to date service which meets the expectations of today’s society, but still maintaining the traditional values of sympathetic help and advice. The roots of the business go back to 1840 when Edward S Singleton started out in business in Woodbridge Road in Ipswich.

The funeral of someone you love is always a time of sadness and grief, but it is also an opportunity to celebrate and be grateful for that person’s life. We believe that it is important to make the way you say goodbye as individual and as personal as possible, however simple or involved this may be. As funeral directors it is our role to ensure that the family are able to make informed choices, and then to gather your instructions and carry these out in the most appropriate manner. We try to be sensitive to all your wishes concerning the form and style of the funeral.

Because we are a smaller family firm, we are able to ensure that whichever funeral director meets you initially to discuss the arrangements, as far as possible, he or she will continue to be responsible throughout the preparations and on the day of the funeral itself. We believe this continuity of advice and support, together with a flexibility to individual circumstances is one of our most important strengths.

We have great respect for the funeral traditions which have evolved over many years, but we are constantly seeking to improve the service we offer.
