Burgess Memorials was founded as Memorial Masons in 1839 by James Jacob Burgess to compliment the family funeral business, however the family's business roots in the Hatfield Community are documented back as far as 1700 when the family were Clock Makers, Beehive makers and General builders.

The family business of Memorial Masons was passed through the generations and has developed throughout the years to the business that it is today.

We strive as a family business to provide a personal service where we aim to use our skills and knowledge in the Memorials profession to give you the help and assistance needed to choose, design and manufacture an appropriate and fitting memorial to your loved ones that we hope will stand as a lasting act of rememrance.

Burgess Memorials are proud to have been part of the community for over 165 years. The family name brings with it a reputation of quality craftsmanship, reliability and attention to detail which we believe is unsurpassed in the Hertfordshire area.

The services offered are of a high standard and offer a wide choice of Memorials which can be tailored to your individual requirements and specifications, no matter if they are conventional or not.

Our experienced memorial fitters are employed by the company and not subcontracted so we can be sure of the quality of the work and the reliability of the staff. They are crucially aware of how to behave in and around Churchyards and Cemeteries whilst they are working, it might be a place of work for them but they are every mindful that this is a place of rest for your loved ones.

They have all undergone a memorial fitting course run by the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) to whom we are affiliate members, and together with the company are licensed under the BRAMM (British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons) regulatory body.

Our letter cutter has been associated with the company for nearly 35 years and is able to cut a vast array of lettering and can match most existing letter styles. It is important however to remember that a letter cutters lettering is as unique as handwriting and some variations may occur.
